What is a HPL Panel?

A HPL panel, also known as a fire-resistant board, is a fire-resistant building material used for surface decoration. It has a variety of surface colors, textures and special physical properties. What are the common types of HPL panel?

1. Traditional HPL panel: Made of decorative paper and kraft paper through impregnation, drying, high temperature and high pressure and other processing steps. Its structure is surface wear-resistant layer + color paper + multi-layer kraft paper. It itself has the characteristics of wear resistance, high temperature resistance, scratch resistance, anti-permeability and easy cleaning.

2. Compact HPL (High-Pressure Laminate): Thicker than traditional HPL panel, it has the characteristics of sturdiness, impact resistance, water resistance and moisture resistance. It can be used as a structural material and directly drilled, knocked, sanded, shaped, cut, etc., with standard carbon steel alloy tools.

3. Fire-resistant keel board: Although HPL panel has high fire resistance, as a facing material, for places with high fire rating requirements, such as suspended ceilings, the fire rating needs to reach Class A to be used, and this is where fire-resistant keel boards come into play.

Where is HPL panel generally used?

HPL panel is mainly used for interior decoration and have a wide range of applicability. However, HPL panel is not a functional fireproof material, but a decorative fire-resistant facing material, whose main function is decoration. At present, many indoor decoration boards are artificial composite boards, whose surface is not very beautiful, and sometimes designers have their own unique ideas and color matching needs.
